Womankind Photography Award

I'm happy to say that my work has been awarded the winner of the Womankind Photography Award! The category was "Home" and although not a conventional fit, my interpretation "As Long as We're Together" caught the judges eye to take out the top spot.

As Long as We're Together

"As Long As We're Together" was taken while travelling through the Alentejo region of Portugal, approaching Elvas near the Spanish border. A fleeting glimpse into the lives of an apparently nomadic Romani family, whose challenges are so very different from our own. The varied expressions on the faces intrigue and provide a little insight into the characters and roles within this close knit family unit. While the encounter was brief, it has had a real and lasting impact on my sense of perspective.

Womankind magazine is a high quality, thought-provoking publication distributed across Australia, New Zealand and the UK. The latest issue has just hit shelves- I recommend you grab yourself a copy from newsagents now ;)

Tourism Australia

I came across this unlikely friendship on North Stradbroke Island, QLD recently. Initially I thought the pair were simply sharing the same tree for a rest, but after watching them interact for around 15 minutes, I could see they were genuinely enjoying each other's company!

Thanks to Tourism Australia for sharing my image with their 7+million FB followers. You can check it out on the Australia.com page here
